Nursery school

Granny Teresa's Nursery School is a play based, Waldorf inspired, in-home child care program licensed by the State of California. Our program is located in Terra Linda, San Rafael. We serve children ranging from three months up to kindergarten. 

Our mission is to provide children and families with a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.  At Granny Teresa's we believe that children who feel safe, comfortable, and respected, exhibit a natural sense of wonder, curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Our goal is to look into the individual needs of children as well as the need of the group, and create hands-on learning opportunities through specialized routines that supports each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

My name is Mayza Wilson, I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Hospitality from the University Paulista - UNIP in 2003 (Brazil),

 I am certified by Lifeways North America Early Childhood Education for caregivers which supports and strengthens the child and family. (www.lifewaysnorthamerica.org).  I am currently taking Childhood Education classes at College of Marin, In recent years I have taken several courses in Early Childhood Education at the Marin Childcare Council. I speak fluent Portuguese, English and Spanish. I have been working with infants, toddlers, and children of different ages for 14 years, I love what I do. I am also a professional face painter and balloon sculpture artist.  Each child I have cared for has enriched me as an individual. I live in San Rafael, California, with my husband, Aaron and our 5 year old daughter.  I love helping children to learn and grow.  I  wholeheartedly encourage each child to be spontaneous and creative.

I have chosen to honor my grandmother Teresa as she was an inspirational kindergarten teacher who expressed love to the children she taught.  She brought to the classroom enthusiasm, creativity, and joy. Granny Teresa Nursery School is a continuation of my grandmother’s legacy, and I honor her by becoming an Early Childhood Educator. I am a proud mother of a five year old. I know first-hand that love and nurturing care are the foundations for a child to grow confidently with a strong sense of belonging in this vast world.
